The Pogoplug Giveaway

In honor of Michael Bolton, we’re giving away a first generation Pogoplug today. It’s an interesting bring-your-own-drive network storage solution, at a great price without service fees and featuring one of the quickest, easiest initial installs ever. It realizes many aspects of my personal cloud vision, yet the Pogoplug wasn’t exactly the right solution for me. But it, along with its multiple clients (Win, OS X, web, iPhone), might be right for you. Entering the giveaway is as easy as it gets, simply leave a comment below. (US residents in the lower 48 only, please.) I’ll choose the Pogoplug winner at random in a few days.

  1. This reminds me of another cool gadget I read about, Tonido. Sounds like same principle. Could be very awesome. Thanks for your informative site. I keep you as one of my few home pages ’cause you seem to have the hook up on what the cool kids want to play with!

  2. I’ve been looking at getting one of these, however the new generation of Pink has me turned off at the moment. I’d love to play w/ the previous generation :)

  3. Hello Dave,

I am an instructor and am ALWAYS commuting my files from my home to school either by email or upload to my personal website, or pick-a-USB device…I have so many of these tiny gadgets that I misplace too often. I have been thinking about online storage, but the monthly fees are not appealing.

This seems the device of the future. One-point access for all personal data. From any computer anywhere. I am so happy for those clever people out there!!

    Cris

  4. Thanks for the great contest. I would love this for sharing files with my family. :) Happy Belated Birthday to M. Bolton

  5. Just wondering, are Canadians excluded because of the results of the Olympic hockey games, or is it a shipping cost thing… I;d be happy to take care of the shipping if it was headed my way.

  6. Almost forgot,

    Happy Belated Birthday, Mr. Bolton.

(He waited for January 7th to do the happy new year thing on his official web site, so he shouldn’t mind about someone being 2 days late for his 57th here!)

  7. PogoPlugs…can’t wait for the software update coming shortly, to plug the hole around SSH access.

Not sure if this version has the hole, hoping to find out!

  8. Random.org has declared #113 (josh) as the big winner. Stay tuned, as we’ve got a magicJack and Gelaskin giveaways coming soon.

josh hasn’t responded, so either he typoed the email address, I’m caught in the spam filter, or he’s on vacation. And Random.org has chosen us a new winner (Rob).
