I just had a moxi box replaced and expalined to the man with charter the problem I was in. That problem, the fact I had been given a Toshiba DVD Video Recorder that had no tuner. I asked if Charter supplied an updated moxi box, his response, "No, we only use reurbished moxi boxes." Then surfing the web I discover this page. I hope it prints, I will take it with me to prove either Charter or their workers are LIARS!

Charter customer in Missouri. Got this box about a month ago. I am on my second one. First one had issues with on demand. Seems a little more sluggish than the older moxi that I have upstairs.

I have the older MOXI and love it. Its fast and very user friendly. The problem is it has no HDMI. I have been asking charter for this box for a month now. No luck so far.

A follow up question on deployment: is the box inter-operable (I'm guessing yes with the cablecard, but with cable companies you never know) or will it be somehow 'married' to the specific cable company?

Yep, TiVo's core DVR functionality is very reliable - but the UI is largely unchanged. Needs to be faster and modernized: more graphical yet less cartoony, granular settings for power users, etc.

Tivo really needs some stiff competition, imho. I think that they have become stale and need a good, swift kick in the rear to get going again.

I hope, this new box actually works as reliably as TiVo. If Moxi has such difficulty rolling out hardware, I don't understand why they just don't license their "Emmy award-winning" interface and leave hardware business alone.

P.S. To the left of the box is a Western Digital external drive. I have a pair of 1TB Essential drives that look exatly like that.
