60GB PS3 for $349?

bluray.pngOver on TiVo Lovers, I spotted a very attractive deal: Pick up a Sony credit card and

Get instant approval and a $150 card credit after your first Sony Card purchase of $299 or more!

While televisions are often discounted at big box stores and online retailers, you won’t find significant discounts on the $499 PS3 – especially after the recent price drop. I’m extremely happy with my Xbox 360 and doubt I’d use a PS3 for much gaming (I don’t like PS2/3 style controllers and the online offerings don’t compare). But $349 for a Blu-ray player (that happens to include a PS3 ;) ) is sooo tempting… (Not to mention I’d have 5 free mediocre movies to choose from.)

  1. For comparison, I pulled a similar maneuver last year when I picked up my Xbox. It was on sale for $100 off and MicroCenter was offering an additional $100 credit if you signed up for their credit card… which I did. There is a benefit of not having to worry about credit scores. :)

  2. Mine’s on its way. :)

Be forewarned, though: They charge sales tax (as I’m in MI, my charge was about $30).

And there’s free standard (ground) shipping this weekend, too.

  3. Well, I applied for the card… BUT I didn’t receive instant approval. Wonder if it’s because I’ve only been with Sling for 6 months? Probably a good thing since I’ll have a few days to ponder my decision rather than making an impulse buy.

Actually, it looks like I can get the $150 bonus on any one purchase I make at Sony through 11/30. I betcha we see stand-alone Blu-ray players drop in price before then. Since that’s what I really want, maybe I’ll hang tight and see what happens… If Sony offers a player at $350, my ultimate cost would be $200. I could deal with that.

  4. This is so tempting I mean I have to get one soon for ratchet and clank anyway :-) Has anyone successfully ordered one and gotten the credit ?
