No SlingPlayer Mobile For Dash/Excalibur (Yet)

dash.jpgI just got off the phone with the Sling PR folks and have confirmed the current version of SlingPlayer Mobile for Smartphones is not compatible with the T-Mobile Dash (likely my next phone, despite the lack of EVDO). Sling is aware of issue and already has a beta build in testing for release in the “near future.” Once distributed, the updated software will also have improved support for all Windows Mobile devices.

And yes, a publicly available version of the Mac SlingPlayer is still slated for release this month!

  1. That’s a good question. I haven’t seen it first-hand, but I know people are using it that way, and it’s probably better than nothing… though I can’t imagine it compares to my EVDO. Fortunately, the Dash has integrated WiFi and TMo throws in Hotspot access when you subscribe to a data plan.

  2. I’ve got the ppc6700 from sprint w/ sling mobile. Sprint gives me unlimited EVDO bandwidth for $15 a month. with EVDO it works pretty good, about 10-20fps, 200kbs, but if you’re moving it seems to get pretty sluggish and starts to break up. the ppc6700 also has WiFi.
